A fine product that works just the way you would expect. The only downside is the material the case and screen are made of – they both scratch easily.

I purchased a refurbished one, and really enjoyed it. I needed 16gb storage for the songs and voice records of interviews. When I enter the tag inormation for the voice records on itunes or media player, the wlakman recognized this info, and I can read the song’s name, genre, artist and album. I do a lot of interviews and have a folder. I needed to transfer just a folder using drag and drop…and it was that easy… the battery goes for very long and as promised when you hit play in 3 seconds the walkman starts to play.
I would recommend this over any i pod, touch etc. I used ipod touch for a year and got tired of it. It was too cumbersome to carry sometimes, but this is very light and small.
OK..I’ll go through each category since this is my first time taking the time to do a review on a product.
Ease of use: I did not even read a manual or any paper-work at all. No need, very easy to use, great gui.
Features: Has everything you will need, I do not see anything yet after using this product that I wish I had. Buttons are easy to use, screen is small, but the whole thing itself is small.
Portability: Small,small, small. In the gym in my pocket I forget it’s there. In the truck Running through my cassette deck with one of those black cassette things to run mp3 player in vehicle….this mp3 player is great.
Screen size: Big enough for the size of the player itself. Perfect, I do not need video, those who want vids on an mp3 player might not like it.
Sound Quality: WOW!!! I will say I was even impressed with the earphones included. They actually had more bass then my $200 pair of Bang & Olufsen’s…but not the clarity of them. Still, impressive sound with both sets of earphones. I could not believe the sound quality coming through my truck speakers either. Nice custom eq as well with bass booster or something.
Battery life: Came to me with 70%, been used for approx 12 hours since and still at 60% now. Seems to be a very long battery life, with music. Not sure about vids.
Vid Quality: Great,but screen so small how can it not be.
Ease of installation: Oh man, there was no installation! Finally an mp3 player that you just plug into your pc and use with media player. Sync is just so easy, drag and drop from explorer, my music to my music etc….great! Finally an mp3 player that is worth plugging into my comp!
Ease of operation: DID NOT READ A BOOKLET OR ANYTHING….MY GRANDMOTHER COULD RUN THIS.
pros
- excellent sound quality
- extremely easy to sync with windows explorer or windows media. One reason why I don’t like iPods, even though the players themselves are generally quite excellent, is itunes, an extremely frustrating program especially if you have more than one iPod (i used a shuffle for workouts as well). No such program is necessary for this walkman.
- easy to select songs. You can scroll up and down, but also sort between the letters of the alphabet using the L,R buttons. Extremely quick even in selecting songs out of thousands.
- small size- it’s about the same length as my driver’s license and about a cm wider than my license. It’s also lightweight, meaning you could easily slip it in your pocket while jogging/running and not even feel it.
- long-lasting- i think the battery on this is simply amazing- ~30 hours of playback on a single charge is quite impressive.
cons
- the screen is tiny, around 4.5 cm x 3.25 cm. So while its big enough to figure out which song to select and navigating the menu, it’s extremely difficult to see anything in detail during vids. So while it’s touted as a video mp3 device, I don’t really see how it’d be possible to watch anything on such a tiny screen.
Overall
I was looking for a cheap mp3 player to replace my Sansa Fuze (which was good while it lasted but the turn wheel stopped working after about a year) and wanted one without a turn wheel. Like i mentioned, this is probably not a very good video mp3 device for the simple fact that the screen is so small. But I bought this device for the simple purpose of listening to music, and in that regard it is a superb mp3 player. Highly recommend.
This player replaced my broken Sansa player. This player is tiny, but fully featured. Sound quality is great and syncs well with Windows Media Player. The only problem is the screen scratches really easy so you’ll want a cover or just be very careful with it.
