First of all, if you’re going to buy a PS3 Slim, MAKE SURE you buy a PS3 Slim Starter Kit by Rocketfish. The best vertical stand available for the PS3 Slim, it’s sturdy and covers both sides of the unit, unlike the Sony one that only covers one side. Also comes with a dual-charge station and a bluetooth headset. It’s a great starter kit for the PS3 slim at a great price. Now onto the actual PS3 Slim Review.
Couple of differences I noticed IMMEDIATELY between this PS3 Slim and the regular PS3:
1). PS3 Slim runs SO much cooler. I don’t think many people notice the heat unless you play in a small room. I thought the games must have been really intense or something because I’d be sweating sometimes while playing in my bedroom, but then I noticed how much HEAT the original PS3 emitted. Unreal, my room was like a furnace! Didn’t realize how hot my room was until I’d open the door and step outside the room. Huge temperature difference. This new PS3 Slim runs SO MUCH cooler, I’m sure my energy bills will be a bit lower now, and no more sweating it out while playing for a few hours or watching a couple BluRays.
2). Same small room arguement, but you don’t notice how loud the original PS3 is unless you play in a very small room. This new PS3 Slim runs much quieter. Again not the biggest of deals but it’s nice if you’re playing with a headset while someone is sleeping in the room, it’s a little less annoying.
3). And finally, portability. This unit is so much SLIMMER (go figure), it’s perfect for vehicles now. Mini-vans or Impalas, it’s now realistic to install a PS3 in your car. The old version was just too big for that, but this unit is just compact enough to be able to finally get that car install done. Also, if you’re like my little cousins, always lugging around the PS3 to a friends house, carrying this slimmer version is much more easier to move around from house to house or even room to room.
Obviously I wouldn’t recommend simply purchasing a new PS3 Slim to replace your old one, but if you have someone interested in buying the old one or if you need a new one for whatever reason, don’t even hestitate to pick up the PS3 Slim. And don’t forget the PS3 Slim Starter Kit!!
I bought the Playstation 3 Slim primarily for its blu-ray capabilities and I can safely say that it is by far the best blu-ray player I have tested. I used to have a Samsung BD-P4600 and it occasionally could not read new blu-rays even though I was at the latest firmware released by Samsung. I switched to the Playstation 3 and I couldn’t be happier. This beast will play anything you throw at it and it is just as quiet as my old Samsung Blu-Ray Player. I have yet to have any problems with this unit. Another unfortunate thing with my previous Samsung blu-ray player is that it failed on me 3 months after purchase. This has been running steady with no hiccups for over a month now. I’ll give this unit 5 stars and 2 thumbs way up.
In terms of video games, I have not used that feature as much since I already have an Xbox 360. I am sure it is just as good or even better than the Xbox 360.
I bought a Ps3 but not on Amazon and it lasted
4 month until breaking down and the console has no good games
and all the games are all expensive and same with the controllers.
Dont get my started with online its alright but it cant even compete with xbox live
i do have a xbox now which i did bought on amazon and its amazing and it was cheap. Online is awesome on xbox live but you do have to pay but its not much and its worth it. I suggest you buy the xbox 360 Arcade on amazon where it is very cheap but all up i dont recommend buying a ps3 because its a horrible console and i suggest xbox.
i have owned all 3 consoles in this generation( wii, xbox 360 and ps3) and the playstation 3 is the best. it has plenty of great blockbuster titles and a wide variety of games for everyone. it’s really fun to get on PSN and download old favorites from the PSone classics section very cheaply the hardware is pehenominal and allows for a lot of multi media usage. the graphics are amazing and definitely superior to the xbox 360.( the runner up in graphics quality) it is just a fun machine all around for all ages. my only complaint is that navigating the hardware menus gets a little frustrating and it takes some time to learn everything( it took me a week to figure out how to use the machine to view my media off a flash drive….something that took seconds to figure out on the Xbox 360)
bought this 99.9% because of the ratings the Blu-Ray player received – they are all accurate. Nice sleek unit that runs quietly in contrast to the “up in smoke” Xbox it replaced. Fast shipping by Amazon.
