Got this as a replacement for a 10+ year old Conair beard trimmer that finally was unable to hold a charge anymore. My only real requirement was that it had to be able to be used corded OR cordless, for those times when you realize you shouldn’t look like a deadbeat just as you are about to walk out the door, only to find out that the unit needs charging! The beard cutting is very uniform, seems to be plenty of height adjustment settings, and about 95% of the trimmings magically got sucked into the little chamber instead of all over my bathroom counter, which is a huge boost for my marriage! Feels a little plastic-y, not cheap but not as solid as my old unit – will be fine if you are not an equipment trasher and as long as you pay a little attention when sliding the moveable pieces off and on and make sure you have them in the right groove. Hope I get another 10 years out of this one!
I really wanted to love this trimmer. Especially given the hefty price tag. It trims as you would expect and the vacuum works well and is a must-have feature in my opinion.
Another must have feature is either Ni-Mh battery or the more expensive Lithium ion battery. This has Neither it is the bad/cheapo/old Ni-Cad (Nickel Cadmium) with all the memory effects and shortened life span that implies. For a device like this where you can’t swap the battery yourself and you can’t leave the job half done you will have to partially charge and then finish your trim. Then you will recharge it fully, boom instant battery memory and shortened life. Or maybe you re-charge it after every use? That may be even worse… I’ve been through this before, you are doomed to a useful life measured in months before the battery (and therefore the whole trimmer) craps out.
I researched on line and couldn’t discover what type of battery it was so I went in person to my local WM and looked at the packaging, still no hint. So I bought it thinking they couldn’t possibly sell it at such a high price point with such an unsuitable battery.
I got it home and found in the instructions that the battery is Ni-Cad and soldered into place and must be disposed of properly. I’ll be returning it and looking for a different vacuum trimmer with a battery that will be useful for longer than a few months.
Good seller, prompt shipping, My second trimmer from Norelco. First one lasted about 5 years. Would buy another one when this one goes.
this shaver gets clogged very easily and if you want to make precise trims, you need to remove the one attachment and add the smaller one on. it cuts well, but is a messy process to change.
if you have more then like 1/8 inch of hair on your face, i would not get this.
i bought it a few months ago and now and just going to buy a regular one. the vacuum feature is pretty worthless. you end up dropping less hair below you, but over a bigger radius, so it makes more mess.
this will really clog up and create a super mess if you try to use it when your hair is the least bit wet.
I ordered the trimmer but did not realize that I would not be getting the trimmer attachments
