The Blast multitool's compact folded shape measures just 4 inches long. The Full-Sized Blast Multitool from Leatherman Loaded with the most requested features, the Leatherman Blast is ready for work. Longer blades mean easier slicing, sawing, filing and more, while the Zytel handle inserts provide a comfortable, reliable grip. And in this model, new designs for the handles and pliers help the Blast sustain more than double the squeezing load of the original PST. This multitool set includes all the handy, flip and fold-out tools you'd expect from an industry-leading brand -- all with 100-percent stainless steel construction, manufactured to the optimum grade hardness for each tool. The Blast boasts an open-tooth saw design that allows easy starting and cutting on the fly, plus long wire cutters for a lengthy reach. These pliers are especially designed for a large squeezing load, with a unique jaw design that adds durability. Multitool Capabilities :

Key User Features The Blast features all-locking blades. To release the interior blades, all you have to do is press the grooved portion of the push-lock button and carefully rotate the blade. The regular and hard-wire cutters are located within the plier jaws, and the straight knife blades may be easily sharpened using standard sharpening methods. To access the interior features of the Blast, just grip the handles and swing them open. Each interior blade can be opened using the nail nicks, and so can the scissors. When the scissors are fully extended, they lock securely into place for safety and ease of use. Optional Accessories (not included) The Removable Bit Driver Accessory is sold separately, and makes a great addition to the Blast multitool. This removable bit driver works by installing right on top of the integrated Phillips screwdriver blade. You can also add the Universal Tool Adapter to your Blast arsenal. This adapter is a standard 1/4-inch hex drive that locks in three positions. Warranty All Leatherman products are covered by a 25-year limited warranty. The leatherman blast is the best multitool currently available. I buy a new one every july after my performance review at work, but i am still using the first one i bought around the house. It is compact, lightweight, durable and full of features. It basically has the same tools as the wave, but i find it more durable and as another reviewer said, the longer fixed blade screwdrivers are far superior for real use.

I saw some complaints about the locking mechanism, but to be honest ive been using my blast as a small hammer here and there for years and i have never broken one. The only maintenance ive ever done was straightening the plier head a little bit so the wire cutters wouldn’t drag after using the cutter to cut metal weatherstripping.

I use this tool many times a day, every day. It’s been so useful to me that if it was $500 i’d still buy one(although not one EVERY year). Buy one and you wont be disappointed, you’ll find every feature useful from the ruler to the saw.

Bought it on a trip as had left my older one behind.

Used the saw on a small piece of wood and the heat generated left it so warped it wouldn’t close.

    Then the lock dropped off.

Throw it in in the bin and look for an old one on ebay.

My girlfriend bought me this for my birthday about four years ago, and would often joke about how no other present she ever gets me will live up to this one. That finally changed when she got me a Leatherman Juice S2, but not because it is any better than the “Blast,” but rather because it is smaller and more pocket-friendly. Both models are excellent, but I live in a city, and some of the tools on the “Blast” just weren’t that useful in my everyday life (the saw and file in particular) and the size of the pliers was a bit much for what I need. The “Juice” is smaller and fits in the hip pocket of my jeans, and has everything I need on a daily basis.

That being said, the “Blast” is excellent for camping (the saw is awesome), impromptu home-improvement projects (the pliers are first rate), or general small repair work. This would be excellent to keep in your glove compartment, bug-out-bag, in your desk at work, etc. The tool quality is excellent for most situations the average person will encounter. I’ve cut hard wires, pried nails and other various things, and cut into drywall, 2x4s, and dead tree limbs with the saw. I’ve never had a problem with it. All of the tools lock, not only for convenience but also safety. The only thing I dislike is the small size of the scissors, but that’s a minor complaint as they cut just fine when you need them too.

As I mentioned, it’s a little big to carry in your pocket, though if you were an electrician, contractor, repairman etc. and used it more frequently, the bigger size would be an advantage, and if you put it in the sheath on your belt you’ll barely notice it. It’s actually not heavy at all for the size and strength of the tool, I think partly because of the handle inserts which also give you a decent grip when using the piers, but don’t seem to sacrifice any of the strength of the handles.

I don’t have any “this tool saved my life”-type stories that Leatherman fans often love to tell, but having this tool has made my life easier countless times, usually at work or somewhere I don’t have access to a full rang of tools. The funny thing about the Blast is that it gives you the feeling that you don’t need that toolbox full of tools. It’s a lot of fun to use and hasn’t let me down. I don’t own a “Wave,” so I can’t tell you anything about the difference in quality between a the two, but the “Blast” seems well built to me, and I don’t think you could find a better multi-tool for the price. If you are going to buy one Leatherman for general repair/outdoor work, I think this is a great choice. This is the Leatherman that made me love Leathermans. I own this, a “Squirt,” a “Juice,” and two Leatherman pocket knives, and all are excellent quality products.

You can’t go wrong with ANY of the Leatherman Multi-Tools. I’ve been carrying one or another model for over 25 years since I splurged and bought my first original PST. I’ve replaced one I lost while repairing my car along the side of the road one night. Other than that, Leatherman Co has rebuilt any tool I managed to “ding up”(100% due to my own abuse!) Whenever I’ve upgraded to a new model, currently the Wave, my old tools have ended up in “emergency kits” or given to an envying fishing buddy.

The Blast is a great value. This last purchase was as a gift, and I know it will last them a lifetime.

This leatherman’s tool rocks. I have a smaller/slimmer leatherman’s and I love it too. The new “blast” is a bit bulkier, but it has locking blades which is a great feature. I recommend EVERY man have a leatherman’s with them at all times.
