I owned it for a couple of months. Works well in all features except it is not very accurate. I have to be very careful so I would not drive into a wrong driveway. It is always off about 60 feet. I studies the manual and found no help. I guess it is the best Garmin can do.
We received the Garmin unit and immediately installed the updates and free map upgrade. The map upgrade caused a serial number error. I contacted tech support by email and did not hear back so I called.
The first tech gave told me this was a known problem and they will be working on a fix. He said to check back on-line for a fix. I checked for several days with no success. So I called tech support again. He said that there was simple fix. So I did the steps he advised and it resolved the issue. So no waiting for a fix was even necessary.
I have used this unit for about 6 months now, but have to return it for the following reasons:
1. Often it says we have arrived at a particular address, but we have not. We were still a block away from the address.
2. When I touch the screen to type or select an option, it often types in a wrong letter or option – the letter or option above one I have touched. This is very annoying when you type in an address.
3. Sometimes the part of the screen went blank or it lost tracking the highway on which we were driving. (This problem does not happen as often as No. 1 and 2 issues, but it does happen.)
My previous Garmin model nuvi 250 never had these kinds of problems. Very disappointed at Nuvi 765T. I saw similar complaints from users on CNet.
I wanted to give this GPS 5 stars because it is very nice one from Design and size. the only reason which I gave 4 is because sometimes it stock with acquiring satellite and I don’t know what is the problem sometimes I arrive the area that I want and before I arrive the GPS starts talking and tell me where to go. Sometimes it is good and I don’t know if this problem because the area or what ? but in General it is lovely GPS and I love it alot and very clear view and easy to use.
I purchased this unit to replace a stolen nuvi 365 that was bought in 2005. I won’t repeat what all the other reviewers said, though I fully agree that the new features and map options are wonderful. The only note I have is that for the first few months after I purchased this unit I had trouble with the touch screen – it was flat out not accurate. I was just about to put it back into the box and send it back to Amazon when someone suggested I calibrate the screen. After google-searching for instructions on that, I performed the calibration and it was 100% better, no problems since. So, if you receive a unit with poor touch response, try the calibration before sending it back. Other than that, love the new unit, I’ll probably always stick with garmins.
