These belts are awesome. They are durable, good looking, and fit amazingly well with the click system.
Seems that belts if worn regularly always look pretty ratty after just a couple of months. They get deformed where it goes through the buckle and the leather starts cracking or tearing. Dockers may have built a better belt. This belt is unlike any other I’ve ever seen and it’s pretty cool the way it works. The concept I think is kind of like those plastic lock ties. You slip the end of the belt through the buckle and then you press forward on a spring loaded mechanism that locks into the BACKSIDE of the belt and pull the end of the belt through to the desired degree of tightness. There is a “track” on the back of the belt with little continuous ridges that the mechanism locks into. Unlike a regular belt that might have a hole every inch or so, the track is adjustable in very small increments so you can tighten it exactly to the point where it’s most comfortable. With different slacks/pants with a traditional belt, you might put the buckle into a different hole sometimes which doesn’t look very good if you normally where the belt in another hole. With this belt, that doesn’t happen at all since it’s being locked into place on the backside of the belt. Pretty ingenious! To take it off, just press in on the spring loaded mechanism and slide the belt out. A synthetic leather is used so if you like soft, supple natural leather, this might not suit your tastes. But I think the design should prove to be much longer lasting than a traditional belt. Might have to buy a brown one soon!
The belt mechanism is clever and works well so far. It looks as advertised when it’s on. My one concern is the length–it’s about an inch and a half shorter than some of my other belts (not other Dockers, though) of the same advertised length, and I just barely fit in it. Unless you have two or three empty notches on your current belt, I would suggest ordering the next size up.
I have not been happy with Docker’s Belt. It is not all leather, and is some of plastic stuff on the inside that, in my past experience, always cracks. I thought I would get used to the unusual way the belt fastens, but after a month I still don’t like it, and it seems to be getting harder to undo. Give me 100% leather and old fashioned buckles any day. Also, it seems a bit short as a belt for a 34 inch waist.
Ordered a Comfort-Click belt for my son as a holiday gift and he really liked it. So, I ordered another one for myself and ditto, I like it too. Belts typically adjust in steps of 1 inch, but this one adjusts in steps of 1/4 inch, which allows me to get a perfect fit every day no matter which pants I wear. As far as I know, weaved belts are the only other ones that provide such close adjustment, but they are not as dressy nor as flat-fronted as the Comfort-Click. Kudos to the inventor!
