I recently got back into mountain biking, and when I used to trail ride at 13, I only ever needed a water bottle attached to my bike to stay hydrated and ready to go. I’m currently 22 and I do realize those days are over, and carrying multiple bottles of water in a backpack was an inconvenience, especially since I ride with a small group of people and I’m tasked to carry everyone’s keys and cell phones due to the storage space.
I was interested in hydration packs when I was younger, mostly because I just thought they were cool, but now I’m amazed that I didn’t purchase one sooner (just got it early this week). It has helped increase performance on the trail by keeping fluids pumping through my muscles, and helps me cool off from the blazing heat. The build quality of the pack is outstanding – I couldn’t have asked for a better pack. I very much enjoy that this pack is small, light, and comfortable, plus, it is able to carry essentials on the trail. It is the perfect balance between storage capacity and size; you can really everything you need to bring on the trail, except perhaps a DSLR camera if you’re into photography while riding, however, I’ve been able to pack my small DMC Lumix FZ-28 into the pouch and have plenty of room for my bike pump, keys, wallet, and cell phone.
I barely drink enough water as it is, as I never was one to carry water bottles with me, but with this pack I’m able to stay fully hydrated while exercising, which is much healthier than how I used to do it. I was so pleased with this pack that I went ahead and ordered the Camelbak Better Bottle since I have been looking for a good water bottle to have with me at work for some time now, but I was never pleased with the crummy ones from the local stores. I’ve changed into a full on Camelbak supporter in just one week. Anyways, this product rocks!
I bought this to use while hiking, its fantastic, definatly worth getting over the classic version, the extra pockets are great to put a small flashlight, wallet, keys, snacks and anything else minor that you might need for a hike. The great thing and the small things i love about this Camelbak, 70 oz’s just enough water, not too much, load it up with ice, keeps everything cool for hours and hours regardless of how hot it is outside. In the lower pocket of the actual bag, there is a little clip for things like your keys or anything that might need a little suspension or anything that might need be reached very quickly. The straps are HUGE, u can adjust them to go extremely tiny, to extremely huge.
the only negative i have about this pack, is im not sure where i read, but i was almost positive someone mentioned or i read that this came with a phone holder on the strap, was really hoping i could put my ipod in there, oh well, just get an arm band
All in all i highly recommend this hydrasack to anyone.
I use this product for long distance hiking.
Pros: compact, feels comfortable and light on my back, keeps water cool even after 3 hours, the front accessory pockets allow me to carry my phone, keys, and even an extra shirt among other things.
Cons:
-When I run, the straps slide a bit no matter how I adjust them
-The front straps come off at times but they are easily fixed
-The bite valve and hydrolock became ineffective and water started leaking after the 8th use.
I think it would be useful to have extra bite valves as well as hydrolocks for replacement when they start leaking. I ended up taking out the water bladder and putting water bottles inside the backpack instead while I wait for the replacement parts to be shipped so I guess even without the water bladder, the backpack can still be made useful. Overall, I’m satisfied with the product. I just wish the bite valve and hydrolock were more durable.
Great hydration pack. Perfect for up to a 4 hour hike. Has pockets to hold keys, cell phone and a couple of protein bars. Fits well and is very comfortable.
I received the Rogue about a month ago and have used it for extended runs thus far. It works just as I’d hoped. Not too bulky, but a couple handy storage areas to stash Gels, extra clothing items, etc… I was concerned that it would be uncomfortable for running, but I don’t really notice the weight and fit. The most annoying part is the sloshing of the liquid but you get used to it. It’s great to carry enough water or sports drink for three hour runs. I cut the line a little shorter so it swings directly to my mouth. The only minor nit is that, although it’s rated for 70 oz., it seems like it holds more like 60-65 oz. No big deal. Thumbs up!
