Excellent and a must for anyone that has the Bowflex dumbbells. However, I still feel this should come included with the $600.00 dumbbells. Bowflex is cheap cheap cheap…and blood suckers. But the stand is excellent and a must have…if not your back is going to pay everytime you bend down to pick up the weights. And yes I am fully aware of the proper way to squat and lift weights, but this is just a pain after a 1-1.5 hour workout.
The SelectTech stand is very useful, and worth the price. The SelectTech 1090′s can be used without the stand, but the stand puts them at the optimal height for lift-off of the base, particularly when lifting heavier…the wheels are also very convenient to be able to push the whole system out of the way when needed.
Just another success in a continuous stream of products ordered from Amazon, my preferred retailer. The time, traffic and dealing with people required to go to the store? Forget about it. Amazon is my “go to” move for any retail purchase. Price, speed and reliability are Amazon’s trademark qualities.
I’ve had a pair of the 1090 dumbbells (90 lbs each) for about 10 months and been lifting them from the floor until now. The price finally dropped here on Amazon so I decided to pull the trigger. Trust me, if you’re above 30 like me, and can’t recuperate as quickly as an 18 y.o…purchase these….you’ll save your back.
These are sturdy, well-made and convenient stands for your Selecttech dumbbells. The shipping carton says 45 lbs (the outer-box is marked Bowflex Stands….so if getting as a gift, have it gift-wrapped). Unlike other reviewers, I had absolutely no problem setting this up….the instructions are straightforward…they are the ‘exploding-diagram’ type…so maybe I’m visual like that.I recommend not taking all the washers, nuts and bolts out of the packaging….just slice the shrink-wrap to keep the bolts in their position…that way it’s easy to differentiate. It comes with an allen-wrench, but you’ll need a 9/16 socket for the nut-side…I recommend hand-tightening until it is fully set-up….just to make sure everything is aligned. The casters worked fine….moved it around a couple of times and no problems….but they do seem cheap compared to the rest of the Stand. If they break, I’ll just use the pegs.
All in all, it’s well worth it to get the stand….I just had to save up long enough after I got the dumbbells themselves.
I purchased the stand after having the 552 dumbbells for a week. I am doing P90X and found it difficult keeping up with the video with the dumbbells on the floor (and also worry about lifting them off the floor and hurting my back). The stand makes it much easier and quicker to change the weight values and get back into position. The stand is really at the perfect height for me (I am 5’10″ tall). I am impressed with how solid and sturdy the thing is. It doesn’t budge when you drop the dumbbells on it.
I am the type of person who hates putting things together. I must say, in all honesty, it was very easy to put together. I read a few reviews before I ordered it and was dreading the process. I felt like the instructions were clear and all the holes were properly drilled. It took me about an hour to assemble it.
