Nice laptop – just received it. Probably rates 5 stars. but still too new to tell.
All the features I could ask for for such a cheap price. My initial experience:
- HD screen displays great pictures and video.
- Setup with wireless took all of 10 min.
- Speakers sound better than my other 3 laptops(Lenovo T61, MSI, HP).
- Skype video calling works fine.
- seems to run cool so far (my HP Turion laptop gets very hot)
- not much of ‘bloat’ware that I needed to get rid of
We decided to upgrade an old Dell Latitude D520 with this new widescreen Acer Aspire for use in the kitchen. What a difference! The 15.6″ screen provides a sharp and well color balanced display. Even though the CPU is single-core it is still speedy. Tedious to have to remove the bloatware but not unique to Acer.
The machine is well constructed and the keyboard with numeric keypad as well as the touchpad are exceptionally well done. We like the fact the outside of the lid is not glossy piano black so doesn’t show fingerprints. Webcam is also a nice bonus and the audio is acceptable.
Considering we paid $379 in Amazon’s Lightning Deal and recycled the Dell for $105 we are very pleased to have paid just $274 for the brand new laptop.
It’s early days but no cons so far.
Pro: Big screen, full size keyboard, wifi, webcam, 3gb ram, media card reader
Others: comes with microsoft works to write papers and has excel; get office if really need the extra “bells & whistles”
While yes this laptop is not top of the line, for $379 I feel like I stole it. Awesome keyboard and screen as noted by others, and if my wife spills coffee on it we did not smoke a $1000 laptop. For your average non-gaming computer user, this thing is fast and efficient. FIVE STARS!
Very impressed with this product. Slender, efficient and great for its price especially if you got it at the lightening deal which I did.
Pros:
*Extremely wide beautiful screen to view videos
*WONDERFUL webcam which shows color much more nicely than my last laptop
*Windows 7 rocks on this (might just rock in general)
*Slim keyboard with reminders of capslock on/off
*Good multitasking with multiple windows
*Good for playing games
*Nice wireless connection
*Good Windows personalization with security settings
*Trials of Microsoft Works and security software helps
Cons:
*Is too slow when downloading things, such as new software or a large document
*Is pretty huge though not too heavy, but would still be a hassle to carry around
Recommended for:
*Home use
*Someone who does not download too frequently and does not have a million files
*As a new computer with more speed and efficiency, less files
